Following the Easter holidays, the countdown to the eagerly awaited Dolomites Saslong Half Marathon is in full swing. The 8th edition of the renowned trail running event is preparing to welcome ‘chamois’ from all over the world on Saturday 6 June against the spectacular backdrop of Val Gardena and the Val di Fassa. With less than two months to go, enthusiasm is already running high: just over 50 places remain before the participant limit of 600 athletes is reached. Currently, over 20 nations are represented in this breathtaking race, which winds through the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites – between the Sassolungo, the Sella Group, the Schlern massif and the Alpe di Siusi.

Whilst the organising committee, led by Manuela Perathoner, is working tirelessly, the contents of the generous starter pack have now also been unveiled. The highlight is a personalised short-sleeved functional shirt from the Dolomites Saslong Half Marathon – a high-quality garment, ideal for training in the summer. The starter pack is complemented by a practical trail running cup, lightweight and durable, as well as the special detergent Hygan for delicate fabrics, ideal for caring for technical sportswear. There’s plenty to enjoy on the culinary front too: the pack includes regional specialities such as smoked Kofler sausage and ‘Schüttelbrot’ from Profanter, along with Dolomia water and the non-alcoholic Radler 0.0% from Mönchshof.

All runners who successfully complete the 21-kilometre course with 900 metres of elevation gain around the Langkofel group, starting and finishing in Monte Pana, will receive a special wooden finisher’s medal at the finish line, engraved with a runner’s profile and the silhouette of the Langkofel. This motif is also featured on the trophies for the podium places, which are traditionally crafted from Dolomite stone.

Among the favourites for the coveted places is Alex Oberbacher, who returns to the race as one of the top athletes. Born in 1994, he knows the course inside out and already has three victories (2018, 2022 and 2024) to his name, as well as a second place in 2023 behind Trentino’s Daniele Felicetti.

Whilst the field of participants continues to grow and further top names will be announced in the coming weeks, registration remains open for the last few places available. The current entry fee is 70 euros. Anyone who registers by 28 May will receive a personalised race number bearing their own name.

In addition to the comprehensive starter pack, participants will have access to showers, treatment by professional physiotherapists, a ‘Special Lunch’ in the finish area, refreshment stations along the route and free parking.
