The Dolomites Saslong Half Marathon, which will take place on Saturday, June 10, is being prepared in grand style. The courses of the legendary South Tyrolean trail running event are still covered by a white layer of snow, but the organizing committee ASV Gherdëina Runners, chaired by Manuela Perathoner, is already looking forward to the 5th edition. This time the Dolomites Saslong HM also celebrates in particular the "strong women", the "warriors" who are able to tame the "giant" of the Sassolungo on the 21 km long course with 900 meters of altitude. Twice in a row the South Tyrolean Petra Pircher was successful (2018 and 2019), while in 2021 the Italian Caterina Stenta, was victorious. Last year, on the other hand, skyrunner Martina Cumerlato set a new women's record, beating Benedetta Coliva from Bologna with a time of 1:56:21 hours, the new discovery of Italian athletics who, wearing the jersey of the "Gherdëina Runners", the organizing club of the Saslong Half Marathon, made her presence felt on the national stage. The Dolomites-Saslong-HM was a real springboard for the 21-year-old Coliva, who was able to achieve further successes in a short time thereafter. In the summer she surprisingly set a new course record (2h35'43") in her debut at the Pisa Marathon, won the Milano21 half marathon and finished an excellent second place at the Trenta2 in Parma. The year 2023 has also started well for the young hopeful, who recently won the Due Perle International Half Marathon in Santa Margherita Ligure.

The South Tyrolean trail race is once again attracting many runners: barely four months before the start, athletes from 12 nations have already registered, including Australia, the USA, Thailand and some Scandinavian countries.

For one day, runners from all over the world can share their passion for the mountains in a unique place - and while they wait for the warm weather, they can already register online, taking advantage of the reduced fee of 60 euros until March 31.

The Sassolungo "giant" is looking forward to welcoming again numerous participants to the ultimate Dolomites trail running event.
